In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

Local Installation Group (Monday Noon to 6:00pm, Tuesday 9am to 6pm, Wednesday 9am to 6pm, Sunday Noon to 5pm - Lunch provided Tuesday/Wednesday): Get a limited-edition volunteer-only ULTRA RARE Treasure Token, a free Gen Con badge and True Dungeon T-shirt! You MUST be a local Indy gamer to be invited into this pool of volunteers.

Tyvm. I assumed that would be how it worked, as that is pretty much the same as last year. I just want to know so I can volunteer PT during the event to get the Rare token B)

To answer your question is no. The Build Team is separate the Full-Time Volunteer let alone Part-Time Volunteer because Build Team is working toward your 4-days pass for Gen Con and it start on Monday to Wednesday. The Full-Time and Part-Time Volunteer start Wednesday with each entitle benefit for different volunteer function they put into it or get out it.

I will counter with the fact the build team puts in just as many hours, and this year they are required to work on Sunday as well. Full time volunteers get a pass and a hotel room, correct? Not sure how treating the Build Team as full time volunteers is a bad thing. I will wait until TPTB weigh in on this.

I'm curious about this as well. It would seem like the build team doesn't get the hotel room because they presumably live in the area and don't need it. Also, the argument could be made that the build team isn't being asked to sacrifice significant time at the convention like PT Volunteers are, so it's justifiable to offer a lesser reward.

The counter to this argument is to say that the build team makes a bigger sacrifice by requesting more time off of work to help assemble the dungeon, which could have significant value. Further, I'd certainly say that even as a local, there are nights at Gen Con where having a place to crash without driving home would be a very real benefit. Even if no room space is possible, perhaps the build team could be rewarded with an equivalent value of tokens?

This text can be found on the Volunteer Sign-up form:

Note that this year the Local Crew Members are required to work Sunday as well. Since they help put the event up, it is vital that they are there for the teardown. I am hoping we can get a great group of local Indy folks who will get very proficient with the build/teardown over the span of the next few years.

This will be my second year volunteering to help build, and I am hoping to keep it going year after year.

As would I. Good thing "these alone" are hardly the only benefit to volunteering. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.

But that said, I wonder how many non-locals like myself volunteer full-time. Given the expense of travel and the time commitment, not to mention the orgy of other things at GenCon, I suspect few are willing to sacrifice that much time regardless of how interesting or fun it is. I realize the token economy needs to maintain balance, but upping the desirability of the volunteer tokens may solve many staffing issues with zilch increased expense to TD.

I don't think you need to worry that this would dilute the volunteer pool with people who are just in it for the money. The free badges and hotel rooms are much more responsible for that.

when you start to look at other company volunteers, TD is pretty comparable.

for example I'm a volunteer for the con itself.

I work six 8 to 9 hour shifts and again as needed on the Tuesday and Sunday night. for this I get entry, a shared hotel room, some system credit a few random freebies, like a shirt, and the best thing of all new friends.

I'm not alone in traveling long distances to volunteer, I know of people from the UK and Canada who fly over, not to mention from all over the US, just to volunteer.

the people make the event.

I was wondering.

The fourth track is awesome, so yay on that. But I haven't heard anything about the return of True Craft. I thought it was a brilliant idea, but with a few kinks that needed worked out. I'm hoping it will be back. I thought it helped bring the storyscape to life.
