TOPIC: Token FAQ Added to Token Guide

Token FAQ Added to Token Guide 18 years 11 months ago #1

David Radtke was hard at work this week helping to put together a Token FAQ. We added it to the end of the standard Token Guide, so check it out. It has some cool new info for you about the TD combat system. He also updated some of the token descriptions to provide more info.

Also, keep posting your questions! We will update the Token Guide ocassionally. Thanks.

Well bows sure became a lot less valuable.

Also, Dave has included info about 2003 and 2004 tokens, as well as the Ultra Rare tokens.

And regarding weapon tokens...just make sure that players with missile weapons fire first before the melee starts.

Yes, if the ranged weapon is used prior to combat then the player slides the weapon. If the ranged weapon is used in melee then the token must be tossed onto the board.

I am curious what everyone thinks about Ranged tokens in general (both weapons and scrolls) and the effect on value given the new combat system (i.e. tokens down miss, must toss, etc.)

Also, Jeff, I am sure you have thought about it but what is being done to prevent tokens missing the table and bouncing and/or rolling away. This seems like it could potentially be disasterous.

The throw required is not far at all...it is only a few feet from the table.

In fact, depending on our playtest rounds, where the player stands may be moved to the normal sliding position...just requiring the player to toss instead of sliding.

We will playtest it thoroughly...but there won't be any long throws.

Thanks Jeff, this does reduce potential problems.

But I am so bad at sliding that I still might miss the table. :D

It does make me value the ranged weapons less, I'll admit. Still good to have as a back-up, but I think most people will favor melee combat over ranged, and melee weapons will be more in demand.

That aside, I LOVE the fact that ranged combat is an option this year! I think it's really going to add to the game.

Didn't want to seem too negative here - this is a GREAT guide, and the FAQ is coming along nicely. It makes me want to get all the stuff I don't have already. Three cheers for Dave!

Much better INFO for the new players...SoCal 04 had nothing like this as I recall.

In that vein - will the guide be posted for newbies to read? It would be great if it could be posted on the table where tokens could be purchased.

Just a thought.

I will bring along a couple of copies. Will make it much easier to suck the gold out of the new players if I can stress the value of what I am selling. (and perhaps downplay the value of what I am buying)
