Thats why you use a purple sharpie to turn a +1 Mace into a +2 Mace. ;)

But I think George and I are saying we are sloppy writers...not that we would even attempt such a thing - however - making a funny token might be cool for the laugh factor...

Like +5 Vorpal Pixie Wings...

Or a +5 Holy Hammer - (This would have to be Jenn's as it would be a challenge for her to BEND this one...)

Girdle of Hill Giant Str (+3 to Str and stacks with Gauntlets of Ogre Power for +5 Total)

This doesn't work in d20 rules btw, as they are both STR enchancements.

Cloak of Displacement (50%miss chance)

Are there any class restrictions on this one? This is a 50,000gold item in the DMG, and is far and above the normal loot.

Maybe the Girdle/Gauntlet stacking thing was supposed to happen - so you can't wear both for +5 - but wear one or the other for +3 or +2...

That takes the Girdle down a peg as it would just add +1 like most of the other PURPS.

However, it is the first Girdle slot item....so that would free up the Gloves/Gauntlet slot for another item - like the Gloves of Dexterity...

Could we get a ruling on the Girdle? Can it couple with the Gauntlets? If not, I agree with Gary... it definitely knocks the value down a peg.

Things always stacked in neverwinter nights as I recall, no? I would pick up plenty of small +1/+2 stat items on various equip and they always added.

In 3.5, both grant an enhancement bonus to strength score, so should not stack. Of course, they stacked in 1st edition, making them one of the most highly sought after item combinations. I too would like Jeff to make a ruling where TD stands on this.

I'm sure it'll stack. I mean, after all bracers and things like that stack with armor. It makes it a lot easier in the end if they just limit it to item location slots as being the restricting factor.

While we wait for Jeff to rule on stacking STR plusses - would a combined +5 then equal +2 to hit and +3 damage???

According to 3.5 rules, which Jeff seems to be adhering to closely, it would depend on the initial strength of your character.
If your character had an odd strength, it would mean a +3 to hit and +3 to damage. If your character had an even strength, it would mean a +2 to hit and +2 to damage.

henry, only items with different attributes can stack in d20. For example, armor is considered an "armor" bonus, so it can stack with a ring of protection, as that is a "deflection" bonus. If you get barkskin cast on you, that counts as a "natural armor" bonus. Those all stack. However, two items that give you the same bonus (such as an "enhancement" bonus) don't stack. This is coded into NWN too - try it out and see.

Which is why Mage Armor (which counts as an "armor" bonus) shouldn't be stacking with armor in this game, but that's an error that hopefully will be corrected soon.

If it could stack, then if you had an even str you would add +2/+2, and if you had an odd str you would add +3/+3. Every two points of strength gives you +1/+1.
