TOPIC: Am I just unlucky?

I was looking and I got one of each of the 4 "very rare" Gems, and the 50gp token. So 5 of my rares were just gold. (2-3 of those 'gems' are only worth 50gp) Should I try to trade these as a set? I'm not a collector and am more interested with items I can 'use' while adventuring in TD.

I read somewhere on the forum or website that some gems are used for other than 'gp' value. What would they be used for in the dungeon?

perhaps a set of eyes in a statue that are gemstones..but one is missing..so if you put a gem you have in the other eye socket..it opens the door to the next room.

I thought of that, but I thought TD was designed so you didn't need to buy tokens. How would the adventurers get past that kind of puzzle/challenge if they didnt have that one type of gem?

They could find something in the same room or a previous room in the dungeon...or get creative with a stone or other item.

As to the question of luck - that's relative - if you were hoping for a magic weapon or something in particular then you didn't get your pull - but the gems are not without value.

In my 2005a lot I had 4 +1 great swords and something like 7 scrolls of Flame Arrow. While that gave me some good trade bait - I was not thrilled at that luck, especially being a cleric.

Try to find a trade that gets you what you are looking for - that will make those gems sparkle all the more. If you are having difficulty getting things - PM me and we can talk.

Sorry for your "bad luck". We take great pains to make sure that the tokens are evenly distributed, so I guess you must have rolled "01" on that treasure roll. Sorry. You will be able to buy certain items in the Magic Shop with all that value, or you could get a nice non-magical weapon and/or some armor.

The thing to remember about the tokens is that you keep them for years to come. Who knows when a Garnet might be needed by a stranger in the tavern, or when a bonus might be available in an alchemist lab if you have an Amethyst. Or...perhaps a certain monster could be swayed not to attack if a Peridot gem is thrown at its feet.

BTW, a bit of TD trivia for you...the 3 most valuable gems (Amethyst, Garnet and Peridot) are Lori's, mine and my son Drake's birthstones. Apparently these gems have magical properties in the TD world that make them valuable!

Whose birthstone got valued the highest? Or are they already listed in order.

Gem: 75GP Amethyst
Gem: 100GP Garnet
Gem: 200GP Peridot

I meant in relation to whose birthstone it was. I knew the value of the gems .

Which is why I asked if it was already in order .

I would imagine so, just following train of thought. He posted the gems in order, and it seems reasonable to me to have his son's BD the most valued, afterall what proud papa wouldn't?
Of course, I'm just speculating.
Guess I will be quiet and see the Jeff says.
