I'm pretty sure one time a few years ago our cleric guessed so badly it actually did us damage. We've definitely gotten the impression that the further away you are the worse the result. It hasn't been a problem the last couple of years, our Cleric has gotten it exactly right EVERY time!

Me as a Druid on the other hand - I pretty much assume I'm getting the lower of the two numbers ;/

I think for consistency it was one or the other ...but yeah - I did not test this in the field! 100% is FUN!

You can't do damage with a healing spell (unless - has anyone tried to cast a healing spell on an undead monster?), no matter how far off you are. For clerics, the number off reduces the spell's effectiveness in steps: if correct, heal 8, off by 1, heal 6, off by 2-3, heal 5, etc. You definitely will heal at least one or two HP.

Unless maybe you've got a DM that is familiar with more inventive critical misses, where the results can be the opposite of what is intended? I'm pretty sure we took damage once - but that could have been an individual DM's choice and not TD policy.

Dave/Stu - is that really how it went?

I have always thought it was max healing for the correct bead, and subtract one for each bead away from the correct answer using the shortest path (minimum 1 pt healing).

I thought the final decision was -1 for every bead off in regular, and -2 for every bead off in hardcore.

I think Jammies is right, but it would always heal at least one, I believe.
In response to the relative difficulty of the druid and cleric test, two years ago at GenCon '06 I brought a friend to TD who decided to be a druid. When they told her of the test she thought that they were joking, spent 4 or 5 minutes studying the leaves, all of which she already knew, and then looked at what other people were doing and practiced sliding.

The fact is, no matter how clever it is the druid test is one that you could come in with prior knowledge if you wanted to while the cleric test is specific to TD.

Any of you super hardcore, full dragonscale druids for life should consider looking online at some pictures of leaves. I sure as hell wont become a better cleric by looking at different beads.

I'm sorta curious. In general terms, who thinks the druid needs a tweak and whether or not you do, do you own a DSA or plan to play druids in the future.

Me: I think Druids need a tweak, I own DSA, I plan to play druids in the future. It's currently my second class of choice though I'll need to study up on those leaves.
