I dont' recall how it stood in the previous incarnation, but should a pot of CLW really be worth less than a scroll of the same? I mean, it's less healing, but the fact that it's usable by anyone really opens up the advantages I would think. If your cleric gets slaughtered early or if the guy is just a !#%^, a pot is your only healing friend.

Henwy, you raise a valid point, a point that was made before when someone who posted that they thought the Scoll should be worth 8/5ths more (8 vs 5).

As is, per point, the Potion is 20gp per point healed. The Scroll is 15sp.

So to break it down based on game play value, you need to look at the chance that your Cleric OR Bard will get "axed" early. Remember the Bard can use this scroll as well. I think any decent party will be able to keep one of them alive, especially with all the healing they have. :)

Still per point, the potion is better. But I think I am hearing that people would take the scroll over the potion in a straight-up trade. If you want to heal yourself for 8 points, just hand the scroll to your cleric and tell... erm... ask nicely for him to heal you for 8 pts. :D

Ah, forgot about the bard. Didn't think they could do divine scrolls. Well, I guess that makes it better. My general fear this time around for TD is that whoever plays the cleric is just a monumental jerk. I heard a few horror stories of runs from other people and it was something to worry about.

Quick other question if not exactly in the right place....

TD hasn't been really worried about holding fast to the rules when it comes to stacking and equipment slots. Can a person wear botht ecloak of elvenkind and the cloak +2 at the same time?

Remember that if it comes to a choice, Bards have more entertainment value ;-) Would you see the Cleric singing a song about the dead Bard? Nooo!

Wanted to add what some of the changes (enhancements) are:

1) You might notice some of the bold Xs. This indicates the "best of something" for a class for one configuration (i.e. longsword/shield and Greatsword are both listed as best for fighters) Where an item can be used by and is beneficial for everyone, I didn't indicate this (i.e. Gauntlets of Ogre Strength)

2) Some items are in italics. This indicates that the item is ranged AND requires a throw (i.e. Magic Missle is not italicized).

3) Blue items are "permenant". Yellow are consumables. Grey is gold/gems.

4) The bold prices for some of the items represent the higher valued items for that rarity. (e.g. Large Shiled, Potion of Darkvision, and Cloak +1 in the rares). It represents a certain percentage above the average.

5) There is a section towards the bottom for the number of usable items for any given class. Bard is the most with 71, Rogues the least with 38.

6) Ultra Rares have been added towards the bottom. The prices are just guesses though. Don't expect people to be selling these. :D

7) Again $ prices are computed in the following way. GP values for all tokens give an average GP value per Common, Rare, V Rare. This is used to compute an Average GP value per bag (assuming 7/2/1 distribution). This GP value per bag (320GP) is equivalent to $10 by definition and so, we have a conversion of 32GP per $1 which is then multiplied by the estimate in GP value.

Again, this is a guide, a best guess at the average valuation of all traders. Tokens will be worth more or less to you personally and that is precisely what enables trades. One man's trash, is anothers treasure. :)

Additionally, since bartering will be more common than sales for GP, it is more important to capture the RELATIVE values of the tokens rather than the absolute values.

Thanks for all the feedback,
Douglas

Doug, I wanted to say a huge thanks for all the effort you put into your token guide, and for the cool touches, too (like the legend - best of class, prized for rarity, etc.)

I'm sure a lot of the trading going on has been facilitated by your guide - not just that people know what an item is "worth" (since it's not hard and fast), but as a guide to relative value. If someone proposes a trade and ya add up the approximate values of the items involved, you get a very good idea of whether it's a rip-off or not.

That means fewer people are holding back like last year, when no one was really sure of what anything was worth. No one wanted to get screwed in a trade, so a lot of people didn't bother.

You're making the token world a more liquid place to be.

Thanks for the compliment Raven! :smt023

Seems like for the most part, on these boards people agree with the pricing which is really the purpose.

Hopefully, it will be useful when it is really put to the test at GenCon Indy when Gary's Commodity Boards go live and we REALLY see what the masses value these items at.

Thanks again,
Douglas

The CB plan, just to remind everyone, is based on what slips are turned in to the CB box...

PLEASE EVERYONE try to turn in your trades on the slips and be as accurate on the slip as possible - if you want to put a personal value for something next to the item that is COOL.

Also feel free to grab a hand-full of slips and keep them with you for your trades - you don't have to do this on a one by one basis - but getting slips in by noon and around 6pm will be helpful as I think the CB will update and adjust around those two times every day - more often if turn-out is really good.

Henwy,

I haven't found it in the token guide yet, but I would guess you only get to wear one cloak. *shrug*

I haven’t completed it as yet, but Jeff has requested a visual “map showing what can be worn, where, and how many, based on 3.5 and TD rules. I have conscripted one of the other DMs, Brian Kelley (an artist) to sketch me a character drawing which I will add callouts to designate locations and limits. Look for it in a future release of the token guide.

Hint to all... Don't go back and refigure your old trades based on the new prices... it's like looking at your short term shifts in mutual funds too often... ouch.

:D But I'd do it again!
