TOPIC: Suggestion for Dragon Orbs

Suggestion for Dragon Orbs 5 years 11 months ago #1

I had a thought for something on the dragon orbs. Because they are so rare (due to the expense), only a small number of players will have them. With that said, making them amazingly powerful in terms of combat isn't optimal either since it may be out of reach for many players.

What if the effect was something real world that was quite useful?

My suggestion is a completed set of dragon orbs provides the user with various bonuses against dragons but, more importantly, the players with the complete set are given an orb akin to the Ood Orbs from Doctor Who that can shine at various illumination levels in actual runs. Yes, a flashlight. The orbs can be bought cheaply (replica Ood orbs and similar already exist) and it provides a unique benefit for those that have the set.

Thoughts?

An Ood Orb is VERY underpowered for the effort put into getting that many Dragon Orbs.

How about a Dragon youngling Token that you can use as a familiar and can attack on the Combat Board as an extra attack?

I know we shouldn’t worry about the secondary market, but if someone is spending thousands of dollars on a set of Orbs, I think it’s fair that they expect something fun. I don’t think we need it to be overpowered.

Love the idea of hatching a young dragon familiar. But effects that require an extra slider are problematic. Imagine an All-Orb run...

Maybe a player becomes a Dragonkin. Whatever that means... I don’t have a good answer.

But please, before someone brings it up, no extra treasure draws.

Sorry yeah, right to crush your dreams, but the reward has already been revealed . When you transmute all the orbs, you get one of five possible baby dragons like this:

Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

So, you are saying we need five sets of orbs? Ouch! Expensive! Lol! 8k times 8 orbs is 64k, five times, $320k...

Will even one get transmuted to that 5 headed pet?

Better start selling off my house, my cars, my children, and their friends so I can get one!

That is only for the extremely lucky since the individual babies are randomly distributed. You may have to have 8 x 8 x 10 or more.

I was thinking the grand orb could give the holder a True Adventures franchise liscense. So we can open TD adventures in our hometown (like escape rooms, but obviously better).

While mostly a joke, if jeff is ever thinking of having/letting someone open a permanent TD location in indy, i would be interested in discussing.
