What can I do with the extra common tokens that I have multiples of or ones that I'll never use?

Turn them into trade goods for transmuting.

Guess I'll have to wait till I get more token bags. Don't think I have 25 of certain items right now.

Can you transmute tokens from previous years?

Yes.

Also note that while some items take 25 tokens, others take 25 units.

This sounds like you might think you need 25-of-a-kind to transmute. You don’t.

For example, consider the 25 common weapons you need for Dwarven Steel. You could send in 25 Iron Rods from 2017, or they can all be different weapons from different years spanning from 2003 to the present. (But I wouldn’t transmute and of the old wooden tokens without trying to sell/trade them on the forums first.)

But maybe you meant you don’t have 25 ingredients to make certain items, in which case this clarification was a waste of time :)

I don't have 25 units of weapons to make steel yet but I'm close.

The goal is to accumulate enough tokens to do this:

Fun Fact: Using the current price of gold, and estimating that to be a 30ft by 30ft vault, and assuming it's filled with nothing but gold coins, my back-of-the-envelope calculations put the value of that vault at just under one trillion dollars.

Probably a little over, in fact, because I forgot to add in the little hill that truck is sitting on.

But does your math take into account the shape of coins, and the loose packing needed to allow someone to swim through them? ;)

The math assumed the coins were stacked like this . I'll leave the question of whether that's too well packed or not-well-packed-enough as an exercise to the reader.

Given that gold is "soft", and heavy, I wonder how deformed the coins near the bottom of that pile would be. Gaps near the bottom may be minimal. I don't think you could expect the same gold density at the bottom as at the top.

Edit: Mind you, if it's regularly swam through.. that might be enough to keep it evenly mixed...
