TOPIC: Sources for Monster Trophies?

Sources for Monster Trophies? 6 years 5 months ago #1

I thought it might be fun for me to compile a list of sources of the monster trophies (which module, what "drops" it). I've scanned through the Riddle Reveal videos and some forum posts, and tried to do some educated guesswork, and here's what I have so far:
Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ]

I'm sure it would be much easier if I actually had the modules. I'd appreciate it if I could get some information on my missing entries, bad assumptions I've made, or too-generic monster names (e.g., "Ghoul" could be "Ravenous Ghoul" for all I know.)

Thanks!

I'd assume "Iron Rook Rivet" comes from the bird monster in Moongate Combat. A rook is a bird.

I would have thought it was from the Golem that gets animated on Moongate.

Okay, yeah, that looks like a rivet. My memory was that it was more like a bird's talon.

Thanks guys! I'm sure 2017 will be made clear when the Riddle Reveal comes out. The monster might just be called "Iron Rook".

Or a chess piece. That golem looked like a rook, in that sense.

The module does call it an “Iron Rook”

Found a riddle reveal from 2009 which helped with that year. So, almost done. I'm sure some monster names in the original post lack detail, too.

Ectoplasm is from a ghost that you fought.

Quicksilver was from a wizard's laboratory (this was actually a puzzle room with treasure, back when treasure generators were in specific rooms and the monster trophies were only available in that particular room's treasure).

If I remember correctly:

“The Evading Hilt” had a Gelatinous Cube and Ice Devil.

“Dragonward” had Orc, Minotaur, and Chain Devil.

Both adventures met in room 7, where they each battled Smoak in their own way.
