TOPIC: Convergence of Mug Ideas

We'd talked earlier about True Dungeon doing Mugs again like they did in 2005 (and like Trent is doing now).

We'd also talked about some Rare tokens that are due for reprinting, specifically Charm of Enlightenment, Ring of Brilliance, and Mug of Brawling.

I think it would be neat to combine the two. Do a 2017 True Dungeon Mug (with the date on it) and have the token that is inserted in it be the Mug of Brawling, with a special Mug border. True Dungeon could also say that the Mug of Brawling wouldn't be reprinted again for some set number of years.

I think the 2005 Mugs were a disappointment because they didn't sell enough. I think a new mug would sell a lot more because there are a lot more True Dungeon fans/players now. Plus, by combining the mug with a token that is selling for around the cost of the Mug anyway, you'd get people buying the Mug as a collectible, people buying it to use the Mug of Brawling Token (either broken out of the Mug or still within it), and probably some getting it for both reasons.

If successful, it could be repeated in future years with a different out-of-print token each year. It would be a whole series of collectible True Dungeon mugs with tokens inserted.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely a fan of the mugs!

I have two of every mug (except Bucknard's) and I broke one set open so that I could have one token in the token trays with the other promotional tokens, and the other set I kept the token in the mugs.

If TD makes more mugs, I'll surely get them!

It will really break your heart if Trent gets a second Bucknard's mug and breaks it open.

I had no interest in the mugs the first time around - except for the Mug of Brawling because there was actually an in-game benefit to that one (for True Brawl)!

Honestly, I have way too much TD paraphernalia I don't know what to do with it. Too many volunteer t-shirts, volunteer flasks, etc. I have no interest in new mugs. Sorry.

But I won't get in the way if you guys try to advocate for one.

Unfortunately, the old mugs didn't sell well. I remember that near the end, TD was just trying to get rid of them! They allowed you to exchange a small number of treasure coins for the left over mugs.

Well, technically one of the mugs was damaged already. It looked like someone tried to pry the bottom off, so it wasn't too bad to open that one.

I'm happy with my TDC mug. Don't need a mug with a token in it.

I remember that, and that they dropped to $20 per set. I wish I'd taken advantage of those offers.

So after looking at the minimum buy quantities, to get a lower price Jeff would probably want at least 300 or 600 total. Since it's a lot easier to sell 75 of four different mugs than 300 of one mug, following Jeff's original plan of multiple tokens makes sense.

So, if it were in-demand Rare tokens, there could be four different ones enclosed. They could be Charm of Enlightenment, Mug of Brawling, Ring of Brilliance, and Potion of Death's Door. Or they could be all-new tokens that are usable in the game, and fairly high demand.

Also, it would be neat if there were a fifth mug with a better token, that could only be purchased if you bought a complete set of five mugs. If, for instance, there were 50 of that fifth mug, 50 of each of the other mugs would be reserved for sale as complete sets, and quantities above that could be ordered individually. Kind of like Bucknard's Mug. Maybe it would be an out-of-print Transmuted token like the Shade Cloak, or a key Rare like Ioun Stone Beryl Prism, or maybe something new.

And - this is just me - but I think it would be neat if it stayed similar to the 2005 mugs, and the inserted tokens were wooden. It would be neat if these mugs were the only way to get a wooden token version of these Chip-only tokens.
