I disagree.

It's now much more of a "haunted house" experience where success or failure in a room doesn't even really matter. There are really no stakes involved (unless you fighting a vampire!).

One problem that seemed to go away was veterans who elbowed newbies out of the way to solve rooms and beat monsters to make sure they got their stamps

Yeah, instead they can be content to sit in a corner, hang out, and chat, not caring about the success of the party at all.

We didn't solve the puzzle? Screw it! Who cares?

The behavior I've seen most often is whispering about what clue to give to head the people down the right path without giving too much away.

Agreed. But if someone's idea of fun is paying many dollars to not play, then they're wasting their time and money

Or we swoop in with about two minutes to go and start frantically placing gears on pegs, turning the completed set with seconds to go. (Happened during a Team Synergy run on Saturday :) )

I understand the lack of tension caused by not having treasure stamps anymore. I miss that pressure!

Can you imagine trying to bring back treasure stamps? It would be like putting toothpaste back in the tube!

I see why it was done but I miss the pressure as well. Would be nice if there was a way to reintroduce something like that again. Which has me thinking...are completion Tokens actually for completing the entire adventure or are they now participation Tokens that everyone gets at the end? Can't remember if you have to survive the final room to get one.

They have been PARTICIPATION tokens for a LONG time.

Last time we actually had a proper COMPLETION token was the 2008 Ring of Iuz or maybe the 2009 Censer of Sacrifice / Goblet of Healing / Harpy Claw Amulet / Amulet of the Oak (that year was a little complicated due to the AoW and True Realm).

There is an incredibly easily solution to this for anyone who misses it:

1. Randomly determine 3 different numbers between 2 and 6 inclusive.

2. Keep track of whether the party meets all objectives in the rooms designated by those number.

3. You simply refuse 1 treasure coin per room not solved.

There! You've got your treasure stamps back!

Instead of refuse them, you can walk through the coaching rooms and give them to newbies. I had fun giving away Lenses of Loot to kids at TDC. Note: when giving away stuff in the gents', I recommend you hand them to the father instead. Just to avoid misunderstandings.
