TOPIC: Wooden Tokens Equipped on Characters

Wooden Tokens Equipped on Characters 7 years 2 weeks ago #1

I'm curious how many people are still equipping Wooden Tokens on their characters. I was using wooden tokens whenever possible (lighter plus old-school coolness), but out of our entire party of 11 character classes, we're down to just one non-gear wooden token. My Druid still has a wooden Dragonscale Shield, and that's it for the entire group. Our Rogue had been using a wooden Gloves of Dexterity, but I recently replaced that with the Gloves of the Cutpurse.

Is anyone else still equipping any non-gear wooden tokens?

Lighter to be sure, but also a lot more fragile. Back in the day I had more than a few woodies break.
Vive la chippies!
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

No woodies other than gear and a couple scrolls...

Unfortunately, chippies are not immune to breaking... as our Rogue's bow found out.

I had an Ultra-Rare Chippie take some serious battle damage last year also, just from sliding off the table and hitting the floor. :)

Yep that's what happened here as well.

That is painful to look at! I worry about my legendary. Hopefully the magnetic sliders and table walls help.

When I said woodies are "a lot more fragile" than chippies, I was not saying chippies are impervious to damage. I firmly stand by my original statement. Woodies ARE more easily damaged than chippies.

I have a Gauntlets of Ogre Power and one Potion Cure Light Wounds. I figured I would replace ovr the years but i like to get a glimpse of how it all started way back then.

That is a good point, we still have several people using Gauntlets of Ogre Power, I could switch those to woodies. :)

Definitely was not arguing, just like showing off my broken token.

I should've added not only does it take me back to when TD began but this token reminds me of D&D. Just like the Hammer of Thunderbolts even thought this was never a woodie. Both tokens are a big favorite of mine. This also reminds me I've been secretly waiting for the Holy Avenger. I'd probably be playing the Paladin today if it would've made it's way to the play ground. One can still dream on and on lol.

Gauntlets of Ogre Power was my first big token acquisition. Back in 2005, at the Token Shops in the Tavern, since there were no Ultra-Rare tokens in stock as far as I knew (and even if there had been, except for the Gem URs, they'd be beyond my means to get), THE token to aspire to was the Gauntlets of Ogre Power. I had bought a few packs of tokens, and had the token treasure from the Dungeon, and I think I bought the 10 pack deal of tokens later. I ended up trading pretty much every token I owned that I wasn't using, and got the Gauntlets of Ogre Power, and was pretty happy. :)

I guess that's not entirely accurate. My first big token trade was when I had to trade a UR Gem to the Token shop for it's equivalent in R/U/C GP so we could split it across the whole group. That led me to buy a few more packs of tokens at the Tavern so I wouldn't have that problem again, and I was lucky enough to use those tokens to trade for a different UR Gem in the shops later at GENCON, plus let me trade for the Gauntlets.

2006 was when I really started spending a lot of money on tokens (increasing significantly in the following years), and a lot of that was due to my token trading experiences in the Token Shops in the Tavern in 2005.
