TOPIC: 41 mm vs. 40 mm for Token Storage

41 mm vs. 40 mm for Token Storage 8 years 5 months ago #1

With my ever growing TD token collection I thought it would be best to invest in a token holder outside the Whitman 24-Pocket Bulk Coin Wallet .

I'm looking into the Dansco Albums as a possible option, however it seems that there is a mixed opinion on what the right diameter is for storing tokens. I have seen recommendations for the Casino Chips Dansco Album #7007 as well as the Dansco Blank Millimeter Pages - 41mm Page . Therefore, based upon fellow TD personnel experience will both page diameters (40 vs. 41 mm) work or should I stick with the larger 41 mm pages? Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time in this matter.

The Dansco books work very well for us.

We bought them many years ago now. I don't remember the size of the openings.

As long as it is greater diameter than the tokens it should work well. The tokens fit snugly in ours.

The token sheets that I sell in my store are actually for 42mm but obviously the tokens are about 40mm. In my case the design of the storage sheets prevents the tokens from falling out so the larger size is probably better to enable easier insertion and removal. But for other designs perhaps a snugger fit would be preferred.

On an unrelated note, I am also a huge Floyd fan :)

I use the Dansco Silver Eagle albums. They work perfectly

I also use the sheets Kirk sells. They are great as well.

I use Kirk's sheets too. They fit 15 per page securely. I was even able to fold 3 of them and put them in my pocket so I didn't have to bring a bag into the dungeon. Next year I think I will need to bring in 4 sheets to accommodate my builds though.

I also used one of the aforementioned 24 coin wallets, for consumables. That is kind of bulky though so I may try to find a better solution for those.

I have tested 40mm, 41mm and 42mm. I would never use 40mm again. The tokens fit very tightly and the top layer of the page can tear when you are removing them.

My two groups have Dansco books for almost everyone now and we all use either the 41mm or 42mm. Since the tokens are held in place by plastic they cannot fall out and that slight bit of extra space makes it easier to change things around.

My 10 Dansco albums all have their 40.6mm pages. They work perfectly. However, Dansco rarely ever makes a run of them. They are stocked out now and have been for many months.

i use 40mm because i can get the pages with 12 slots per page (instead of 9) so i can fit more per binder.

there are some issues like what cdsmith mentioned with tearing if you arent careful. i've found that being careful prevents most of that, and the rest can be fixed up with a small piece of scotch tape.

Yep, we use 41mm, easier to get out.

When you buy the single 41/42mm pages what book do you buy to put them in?

I use these unlabeled Dansco binders.

http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/products/dansco-binders/

They range from 5/8" to 1-1/4" spine width. The 1-1/4" holds 7-8 pages.
