TOPIC: Token transportation?

Token transportation? 10 years 9 months ago #1

Hi guys, I am looking for a way to organize and carry the tokens that I will be bringing to gencon. As well as a way to organize them here at home. I have been considering poker chip cases, as they seem to be about the proper size to hold them easily. But was wondering what you guys use

Are you driving or flying to GenCon? That might play a role.

Be wary in that a lot of commercial options (e.g. poker chip cases) are not robust enough to withstand the heavy weight of treasure tokens. I've heard a lot of anecdotal stories about poker chip cases or cases with wheels, that break rather quickly after being exposed to the heavy duty task of carrying tokens.

Plano

23620-01 Stowaway-Adjustable-Dividers

Fishing lure boxes they work great and for 6-8 bucks I can store 350 to 400 tokens without risk of breaking
You don't have to outrun the monster, just the guy next to you - The buddy system.

Cranston's Character Generator for iDevices or Character Generator for Android

Amorgen's Excellent Excel Character Generator

I use 1000 count case (no wheels) Then I also Bungie tie the case (it has latches, but I want to be extra safe)

I have 3 of those, They do just fine for Gencon..granted my commons and uncommons are just in boxes waiting to be traded in

I use a Dansco coin binder for my preferred class build. It holds 45 tokens securely. I have a Case It zipper binder with pages for my trade. The binder has a shoulder strap, so it is easy to carry, and has a ton of pockets and stuff for extra materials. I don't have anywhere near as much trade as the veterans have, so this may not work for you.

For my bulk stuff that gets converted to Trade tokens, I use a Plano case with changeable dividers....these come in a ton of different sizes.

Team Yeti keeps their current build in Dansko silver dollar binders. We've each customized the exterior so they can be accessed in the dark. Our consumables are in coin wallets of varying sizes, marked for quick access. Each wallet will have several of the same token (ie healing, chain lightning, buff, etc). The plano cases are great because the tokens can be sorted in them, the 3-400 that'll fit aren't too heavy, and several can be carried in the shoulder bag that you can buy off the shelf.

We tried several poker cases, and they had two issues that didn't suit us - just too dang heavy once they're loaded, and we prefer the quick find that sorting the tokens in plastic tackle boxes provides.
You still got hit points! Get back in there and fight!!
