TOPIC: Girdle for Trade

<br />I dunno but at SoCal I was (-1) from a Cleric's MAX (I think) - AC:23 and I was still getting hit by monsters who rolled 17-20.

<br /><br />Maybe we can get a DM to chime in then. Everything wiffed when trying to hit me, including that 6-armed whatchamacallit. I don't exactly recall what the guy was rolling, but you'd think in that many shots he would have landed something or other. I wasn't even playing one of the lobster classes, just a rogue. No doubt part of my blaise attitude toward AC has to do with the fact that I haven't been hit once by anything in my last 5 TD runs. Taking down a monster quickly seemed to be the best defense. I mean, when you crit everything on a sneak attack with gauntlets, girdle, and a +1 weapon....it just falls over pretty quickly.

That is a great POV to have!<br /><br />I just need to keep quiet as I am in left field on my token value opinions...afterall, I value my 100GP gem autographed by a certain PIXIE more than any PURP!!! <br /><br />I do like to think that people that have traded with me feel they got a good deal...it's all about that as far as I am concerned.  A mutual concession of value.

Personally, my bias is on surviving and I rank "protection" and "healing" tokens higher than equivalent valued offensive tokens.  But thats just me.  =)<br /><br />And I'm not sure you are "maxed" on AC at 22/23 but I would be interested to hear from a DM as well.

I think your totally right...forgot the gloves (since I don't have them...easy thing to forget)<br /><br />Let's do the math...<br /><br />Full Plate +1 ACB 10 to 19<br />+1 Ring of Protection ACB 19 to 20<br />+1 Amulet ACB 20 to 21<br />+1 Bracers ACB 21 to 22<br />Gloves of Dex (+1 to AC) 22 to 23<br />Large Shield +2 23 to 25.<br /><br />Did I forget anything, or mess up the gloves bonus?  If not then I was -2 off MAX for a Cleric/Fighter/Paladin type wanting MAX AC.<br />

I think clerics also have a 12 dex base, so they would have a 26 AC.<br /><br />The real matter of importance is the effective max though. The only reason you would need a 26 AC is if some monster in teh dungeon had a +7 to hit. That's highly unlikely to exist.

<br /><br />Errr, you should have gotten a +1 from having a 12 dex. If a cleric was flat nekkid, he'd still have an AC of 11 because of that dex bonus. Even with 3.5 rules, full plate can accomidate a +1 ac bonus due to dex.

Well as it turns out the Cleric Class has a 10 DEX so no +1...  =(
