I've got a girdle of giant strength that I'd like to trade for other purps. Ideally, I'd like to pick up a couple of other purps for it, and then make up the difference with other tokens. (Of course, if a ring of regen is up for trade, that trumps everything)

Here's more or less a heirarchy of desire:

Ring of protection +1
Greatsword/axe +2
Ring of Evasion
Longsword +2
Full plate +1
Don't suppose you'd be willing to toss any other functional purp in there and have me make up the difference?

aww man - here I thought you would toss in another and let me make up the difference. =D

Sorry - the only way I give up my +1 RoP or +2Gs or +2Ga or +2LSw is for the +1 plate or the gloves or some other such nonsense...

I figure if I have to keep a single purp, the girdle's better than anything out there (short of the RoR). If I can swap it for two functional whozits, then that's worth it but that's about it.

I think the Girdle is WAY better than the RoR - except from the standpoint of having been given a RoR from the Master. =)

The Girdle will be used several times per combat (per room) typically. Yet, the RoP, the +1 Plate and the +2 weapons also get used several times per combat...so I don't quite see why you would say 2 for 1. Other than the obvious - GREED. JK =D The Girdle is useful for any class...but still not 2 to 1 in my opinion - no PURP is worth that (well maybe for the FLY and heal PURPs).

I already have a Girdle - I was interested in trading up the RoE as it was on your list and I figured if you wanted it with REDS - then I would have the Girdle to trade for +1 plate or the Gloves.

Good luck getting two useful perm PURPS.

Anyone interested in a Ring of Evasion?
There's a good reason that of the purps out there (RoR excluded), the girdle reigns supreme in both the price guide and most people's lists. It gives you the most bang for your buck. As w discussed in some other thread, AC maxes out very early for us, err, what was the term again, token affluent? So most addtional protection items give us diminishing returns. What is the real functional difference of a 23 AC vs a 24 AC after all. Anything that deals damage though is different. You can't max out there and the girdle is like a super one-size-fits-all weapon boost. It's the same reason that the gauntlets reign over any +1 weapon. Same difference. It's just far superior from a versatility standpoint.

Another thing, just from a price guide point of view, the girdle is worth at least as much or more than any of these combinations:

Ring of protection +1 & Greatsword +2
Ring of protection +1 & Greataxe +2
Ring of protection +1 & Shortsword +2
Ring of evasion & Greatsword +2
Ring of evasion & Greataxe +2
The Girdle is useful but lets be realistic, the value is in the [glow=gold,2,300]bling[/glow] of being the strongest in the group. It will not "make or break" your chances of survival.

If you are with a group of token affluent players, creatures are not an obstacle especially when they are designed to fight a group that has minimal tokens. Assuming you hit say 3 times in combat, the Girdle will help you do 3 extra points of damage?

Now having said that, it is the most valuable UR (outside of the RoR and RoTW) and probably does warrant multiple Purps in a trade. Personally though, I'd rather have the Plate +1 and Gloves of Dex than the Girdle.

Guide VS my value on the tokens...sorry, not going to see eye to eye.

I'd have to think pretty hard if someone offered me +1 Plate and gloves of Dex for my Girdle straight up.

lemme see...+1 AC from the armor, +1 AC from the Gloves for +1 to hit and +2 damage is it? hmmm.

The plate is nice if you only play characters that can use it. The gloves I just don't see as being necessary when I have gauntlets. It's just that whole thing with not seeing the need for defense to AC 25 or something. At that point, it's just seems pretty useless.

Without having been a DM, I'm not sure what the average to hit bonus is for most monsters but I figure it must be around +2/+3, right? That means that once you have an AC of 21/22, you've maxed out. Additional armor dosen't mean diddily at that point.

I dunno but at SoCal I was (-1) from a Cleric's MAX (I think) - AC:23 and I was still getting hit by monsters who rolled 17-20.

Good point on the Gloves VS Gauntlets...they are either/or.
