Better hope one of the monsters next year isn't equipped with one of those lobster shell crackers. Nothing but touch attacks!
My take on it though as far as the purps is that the girdle seems to reign supreme. It's a stackable gauntlet. There's no downside. As such, it whomps the heck out of all the +1 weapons since it applies to anything. Second, the armor thing really is right...even without any purps the chances are if you're playing one of the tanking classes, you've got a hell of a high AC already. Gloves of dex adding +1, or ring of prot adding +1, or even the magical platemail adding +1 is relatively minor at that point. The only time th equation shifts is if you're not playing the fighter, cleric, or paladin. The difference between 23 and 25 AC is teeny tiny miniscule. The difference between 16 and 18, far less so. So the only classes for whom the added defense is more valuable than the added offense are rangers and possibly rogues (and I assume barbarians though I was never in a run with one). Wizards and bards should have withdrawn back and if the DM is playing it right, wouldn't be the target of melee attacks other than a first round, jack in the box, attack.
Ring of evasion seems to never come into play since I've only seen one trap that even asked for a save, and that was a fort poison trap. The only other saving throws I've seen rolled were for that windy bridge, and the ring wouldn't help you there.
