TOPIC: Token storage

Token storage 13 years 2 months ago #1

Now that many of us are going to be gaining LOTS of tokens, I'd like to revisit the storage issue (also because I'm too lazy to go find the old thread). Has anyone tried this item: Acrylic Poker Chip Holder
I like the idea, but I'm not positive that our tokens would fit. Also, I seem to recall that someone bought extra cases of some sort and was selling off extras. If that person sees this, please PM me with details.

Thanks!

I found that the Tokens are the same diamater as a American Silver Eagle (40MM) but slightly thicker.

I mainly use Plano Model 3700 compartment totes. If I need extra dividers, I just have to Call Plano's Cust Serv & ask for more (as they are free). @ or 3 of these fit nicely in a backpack.

I think Smak had extra cases at one point.

I have a small wooden box I keep them in, I'm planning to upgrade to a real treasure style chest when I find one I like that isn't too spendy (all my money already went to tokens).

For GenCon, I've just been using small felt bags or Ziplocs. But I'm hoping to upgrade that too, to a small poker chip case.

Speaking of storage, keep me in mind when you make the sashes this year, Binia! I really want/need one!

I generally keep my tokens in the "craft boxes" I bought at Hobby Lobby. I use a metal case I bought at Home Depot a few years ago to keep the "craft boxes" in.

For in-dungeon use last year, I purchased several Lighthouse Optima pages (for 42mm coins, ie Silver Eagles).

The sliders in these pages hold the tokens very securely, so that they do not fall out of the page (a problem that I had with the token pages sold by TD). Several of these pages in a binder worked great. As an added bonus, when pulling out scroll after scroll (magic missle vs Smoak) they kind-of felt like a machine gun.

I think any coin storage solutions for Silver Eagles or American Eagles will work well. I bought mine from Collectons.com.

I'm using the clear acrylic storage boxes that were recommended in one of the previous threads; they work great, and are really cost-effective.

I bought two "sets" of them (ten boxes, which hold 1,000 tokens) for less than $10 right around Christmas. It looks like the price has gone up a little bit since, but it's still a great deal.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Sage, I actually have quite a few of those kind, but it gets tiresome to shuffle between boxes when I'm trying to create 'order out of chaos'. I might try a few of sonofrich's suggested boxes this year. Someday I'm sure I'll be resorting to Smak's 'giant unsorted barrel'. I even have a 20 gallon crock that would look awesome filled with tokens, but might actually bust through the floorboards.
