2. I've been able to access it for years, and I visited the forum this morning, but at lunch I kept getting a blocked application message. Certainly don't want to expose the district to any issues, but of course there's no reason to block the site.

This happened with my board in the past. There may be tag words in it. You will have to contact the board and ask them to "unblock" it. They may be monitoring your usage, and if you are checking during school..

Oh, I've definitely been checking during school, but not when there is actual teaching going on. BGG is blocked b/c go "games," but the kida access computer games of all kinds.

They probably just blanket blocked the word games. Honestly using VNC to your home computer shouldnt cause any security issues in school setting. I wouldnt connect to any foreign computers if your in a high security organization but in a typical school it shouldnt cause any issues if your just using it to browse this site.

Sartre sits in in a coffee shop and asks for a coffee without cream. The barista apologizes “Sorry, we don't have any cream. Can I offer you a coffee without milk instead?”

Be sure you know what you are doing and carful you don't unintentionally open a hole in the school's network. Even a safe encrypted tunnel to an external machine may sound safe, but is the machine secure on the other end?

I don't want you to be brought up on disciplinary or criminal charges for something like this. Government funded facilities can be fickle about what they prosecute.

Seriously, don't lose your job or get in trouble trying to circumvent your school's new protocol or whatever. Someone high up maybe doesn't want you spending so much time here while on the clock. Don't get possibly fired because of this Site or any Site.

With my last State employer I never used the Internet for non-work related viewing. That's why I have an iPhone and iPad with a data package.

Still blocked today. On phone eating up data. Thanks for suggestions. I'll figure something out.
