I also think -6 is excessive.  If the neck slot items are too powerful, maybe go with an extra ring or cloak or bracers, etc.

Or what about an extra Ioun stone or charm?

How about -4 to Will saves, then?  I think that is about right...to balance out the whole thing a little more.

And again, this would be a "must equip the whole adventure" item to keep it from getting too out of hand.

I'd like to see penalties reserved for uber powerful artifacts or Reds that have near purple power (see Helm of the Boar for example).

Regarding the penalty on the Girdle of Might.     Say you are a new(er) player who started in 2010.     You pulled a Red Belt of Ogre Power.    In 2011 you spend some extra on tokens and happen to pull a "Girdle of Might" as a "00".   It's your only UR.    You think's it's awesome you pulled an UR and can't wait to play it.    However, you play a class with an even strength.   Your really cool UR would actually be worse to play than your prior Red Belt of Ogre Power.    How dissapointing.

I think penalties for the Crown is also a bad idea.

I really don't think a penalty is needed.  There are more good head slot items than neck slot items, so this becomes a legitimate choice.

Name one, you could argue that the top 3 items in the entire game are neck slot items.

I don't like a restriction on what you can use as your 2nd neck item. However a penalty of -4 to will saves seems OK with one caveat: Cannot reduce Will save modifier below zero. For the token rich this caveat will be a no-op as they will have Questor's, Dougal's, Beryl Prism, etc.

I dont think there should be any penalty for using the crown, You don't have one for the Hand of Glory and more and more powerful rings are coming out.

I'm against the Girdle of Might the way it is.  It simply obsoletes the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength.  -2 to saves is not enough to balance the set item power against the GoHGS.

Switch the pictures on the 2 boots.  The Might boots look more metallic than the Mithral boots.

I like the Lenses pic a lot better.  Seems to fit now.

I'll weigh in on the Amulet Crown later.

I initially thought the Crown might be too powerful as well, but I am starting to change my mind.    Looking at the neck slot items, I don't see how wearing two of them breaks the game?  Let's try to break it using the min/max scenario,  I think the neck slots break down into the following Tiers:

Tier 1 Item:  Horn of Plenty
I think most people with a "Horn of Plenty" are going to wear it as one of the two.  (Disclosure, I do NOT have one).  It's arguably the #1 item in the game and clearly first tier.  However, it technically has zero "in-game" effect for combat.  It gives them extra treasure after the game, but doesn't improve their survivability.    All it does is shift the slot sacrifice from Neck to Head.    They are still giving up a slot for it and it takes an additional UR to do so.    With the Ring of Riches coming out and slightly horning in on the HoP power, I think using a second UR to make them use a head slot for this is not horribly unbalancing.

Tier 2 Items:  Amulet of Wonder and Medallion of Greyhawk
The AoW has variable effects and since it won't have a HoP type effect next year according to an earlier post, it can't stack with the HoP.    It can either be the most powerful item in the game (like immune to fire last year), or have a mediocre effect.  The +2 hit points from the Medallion of Greyhawk will be less important when all characters are higher level and have more HP.  (But the immunities are really nice and probably still keeps this as a Tier 2 item).

Tier 3 Items: Dragontooth Amulet, Torc of Natural Armor, Necklace of the Oak, Hand of Glory (if you have a good third ring), and the new Amulet of Barkskin

The only real abuse I see here is the Torc of Natural Armor and Amulet of Barkskin giving +5 to AC.  However, if you have to burn a combat round to use the Amulet of Barkskin it's basically a reuseable potion.    You get the same affect by wearing a Torc of Natural Armor and drinking a potion of Barkskin.  You are also giving up your helm slot and potentially losing AC, so doesn't seem too powerful.  I am also presuming you cannot wear two Hand of Glory to wear 4 rings?

Tier 4 Items: Everything else.      I am not sure what the Necklace of the Ash does?  Nothing else I see in the neck slots is game breaking.

I really wished the Girdle of Might would go back to being +2 STR and a couple immunities (Stun and Fear), rather than gain +1 Strength and a 2 point penalty to Will Saves (something in essense that says -4 to Wisdom).  The might set is about power, power to rule, and instill fear in that rule not making the person with them weak willed.  So, I would much rather not have URs with penalties at all, and be a bit weaker.

Regarding the Girdle of Might...someone pointed out that I should avoid adding any more immunities and other complicated things to items, as it is getting a wee bit hard to track it all...so...I killed the immunities in favor of something that is done in the Coaching room.

It seems we are down to two choices, and I will let you all decide:

1) +2 STR & +1 to Will saves

2) +3 STR

Which would you pick?

Thanks for the good feedback on Mike's Amulet Crown.  It is a tough call, but we are running out of time.

Let's just go with the Crown with no penalties.  As crazy as it sounds, I think it will be a fun item for people to make more choices with -- especially in the future as more set powers are available.
