Imp Familiar - Rodney?, Wizard only
Could be implemented a number of ways:
1. Imp has damage wheel and allows wizard to slide for damage in addition to casting spell. 2-3-4-5
2. Imp can cast Magic Missile each turn for 2 points of damage.
3. If Imp is killed(?), Wizard loses 4 points of HP
----------
I really like this idea, and I would include Bards as being able to use the familiar as well. (and it shouldn't be consumable (if killed), just disappears until next dungeon)
I would also like to alter this a bit for some of the nature characters (Ranger, Druid,...); I like the idea of an animal companion (wolf, hawk, ...)
1. Hawk has damage wheel and allows ranger to slide for damage in addition to regular attack. 2-3-4-5
2. Hawk can attack undirected for each turn for 2 points of damage.
3. If Hawk is killed, Ranger loses 4 points of HP (and can't return until next dungeon is started)
----------
The animal companion idea is great- I'd love a hawk when playing as a ranger, and I could see it as being fun (and appropriate) with a druid, too. You could do the same with a wizard's familiar, too. I can see it as being difficult to manage, though- and the ability to make an extra attack (or even "auto-attack") would be powerful- perhaps very overpowered.
One way to balance this would be to:
a) limit the damage the familiar/companion can do (thus the 2pts undirected--no slide required. If too powerful, then 2pts damage if "master" hits this round)
b) have a disadvantage if killed (character looses some hit points)
c) not allow it to attack (in this case it is no longer worth a purple, and should be a rare or even an uncommon)
Basically, the balancing factor is that it would either require a characters action (requiring a slide), or do a small amount of damage (like a +2 weapon would do).
