Maybe it's not quite what you are looking for but last year (this year?), uh 2010 tokens, there was a damage scroll of each rarity that Clerics could use. To be honest though, I myself am really starting to prefer wands. They've just got a higher utility vs. weight ratio.

The damage scrolls are nice, but I would really like to see some wands/rods out there for clerics.

Wands have traditionally been for the wizard, although this set is coming out with some druids can use as well.  Clerics don't really need them - there are plenty of scrolls to use, especially healing scrolls.  Magical damage is not what clerics are known for.

I could see maybe a Rod of Command for clerics - let them duplicate their COMMAND spell once per adventure.

Traditionally, Yes.  Exclusively, No.  And as I said I am not looking for the cleric to compete with the Wizard in the realm of offensive spells, but just looking to give the cleric a little boost in that realm.

I don't think the cleric needs a boost.  Can use great armor, more weapons (than the wizard), healing spells.  Damage spells just aren't the cleric's bailiwick.

But they are severely gimped in the ranged offensive realm, and a wand (rod) or two could give them a boost in that area.

There have been a crapload of slings in the past couple of years across all rarity spectrum. At this point, the cleric has the same range selection as the druid and wizard, which is probably better than they deserve given the strong anti-sharps quality of the class.

Go back and read through this entire exchange.  It was not only about permanent ranged weapons.  I was merely pointing out that clerics are overall gimped in the ranged attack category.  Nor was I advocating that the cleric be made comparable to the wizard in the realm of ranged spells.  I was merely saying that I would like to see the clerics given a small boost in this area, possibly through a wand or rod.

Faerie Fire
Magical Stone
Charm Person or Mammal
Dust Devil
Heat Metal
Hold Person
Spiritual Hammer

There are a few 1st and 2nd Level spells right out of the 2nd edition Player's Handbook that are all ranged spells.  While it is true the clerics are not primarily ranged spell casters, it certainly is something that they do.
