To answer your question - we played Grind the first two years and LOVED it! We were one of the very few groups to play and survive at True Realm (and some members of my party are still very annoyed that we didn't get our True Realm Survivor Badges at GENCON the next year because a bunch of people that did not survive claimed that they did and got the badges before we got there). We survived each year we played, although the first year at GENCON we only survived Normal mode, and fell just short on Nightmare. Stu did a fantastic job DMing those adventures.

However, most of my group is pretty financially constrained, and once the price of True Grind got up to $28 for just 1 hour, they decided to stick to the 2-hour Dungeons for $38 (more bang for their buck). Also, most of them are much more casual True Dungeon players, and really only want to do 1-2 True Dungeon runs per year, and Grind was one event too many for them I think. I am sad to miss out on the Horn of Blasting though, I wish that were the participation token for one of the other Dungeons instead. Hopefully Grind won't always get the best participation token

I should add that the True Grind experience led me to get two +2 Sey'Lah's Cestus of Sundering to outfit our Fighters, as I'm pretty sure we'd have survived the Nightmare Dungeon if we had had them. Stu told us the only groups that did survive largely did so with the help of the Cestus of Sundering.

Do you have to identify a bardic rune or is it automatic. A bard attack? Whaaa!?

You automatically succeed on monster lore, you just need to spend an action.

In Grind, to save time all skill tests automatically succeed (Bard, Cleric, Druid, Wizards. No rogue boxes for the Rogue to try).

Eric, you are providing some great FAQs here. Is there potential for these to be rolled into a proper FAQ post for folks who don't click into this thread?

Those were just some hypothetical examples to make a point.

If you want, you can change that to:

Being safe from poison and lightning bolts can be really nice and may be worth it, but it does come at a cost.

or

Being safe from being felt up by the undead and the sticky gooeyness of spiders can be really nice and may be worth it, but it does come at a cost.

Personally, I think the Dragontooth Necklace is just about the most valuable item you can bring to a Grind, with the Ring of Supreme Evasion (Near-immunity to any reflex-based damage) coming in a close second.

For this particular event, though, the UR Ioun Stone that prevents undead touch attacks is probably top of the list.
