Ok. So I have transmuted a Supreme Elemental Ring and a +3 Mithral Bracers. I just received the bracers and they have a gold back while the Supreme Ring (which is also listed as a relic) has a green backing.

Did I miss something? Is the Supreme Ring a different type?

Yup... the Supreme Ring (and in the future, the ROD) are dark green because of the powerful druidic magic inherent in the Endritch items (which at first were going to be LEGENDARY, but are not now...)

The rest of the relics are gold, while the Legendaries are orange.

Hey En,
Yes the supreme ring is part of the Eldritch set - or an Eldritch item. I believe Jeff decided to go with green backing on that set. It's different than the relics and legendaries.

I thought Relics were supposed to have a Blue back. Did anyone else have that impression?

I would have sworn that was the case, too. But with the big topic purge in the token design section, it is impossible to tell if something changed or I am just delusional (or more delusional than usual).
Applications programming is a race between software engineers, who strive to produce idiot-proof programs, and the Universe, which strives to produce bigger idiots.

So far, the Universe is winning.

I thought I even remembered photos of them with the blue backs. Maybe I'm delusional too

I did too Mike. And I have a couple now, so I thought I'd mention it. I am VERY colorblind though. I never trust my recollection about things like that.

It could be that the plan was to have blue backs for relics, but that detail fell between the cracks. There is so much to keep track of in token development, it's probably inevitable that there are some glitches along the way.

Actually, in all of our discussions, the use of blue never came up. Green was always a contender. But orange, that one came in from nowhere...

It (the plan) is all, of course, somewhere in Jeff's mind.

I remember this discussion during the Token Dev process this year on the forums. IIRC, the conversation went something like this:
1) Jeff brought up printing the Eldritch Tokens (SRoEC and Ro7P) on Green tokens to make them stand out as they are special.
2) Community brought up printing Relics on Blue tokens and Legendaries on Orange tokens, as they too are special.
3) Discussion ensued, sides were taken, trolls roamed free and gorged themselves on all the troll feed being thrown about, more than a couple someone's honor was insulted, legitimacy of a few people's birth rights were questioned... and I'm pretty sure Godwin's Law was proven as true a few times.
4) There was blood... oh yes... there was blood.
5) Jeff kept the Orange token idea, but rejected the Blue token idea... I think it was more to do with not being able to find a shade of blue he liked for the tokens.

That's how I remember it... and anyone who says different is a damn liar... and a Nazi Zombie...of Hitler.... probably all three.
