The Rod Parts can be recycled and sent out again, without reprinting. Anyone who wants to make the complete Rod will have to turn them in.

That said, if that is the course taken, it would be difficult to figure out the best way to re-distribute the ones that went into the Transmutations.

Do they go in Treasure Boxes?
Packaged like GTs?
TD Auction?
Charity Auction?
In the Treasure Map Boxes?
Random Drawing like Pick Your Slot?
XXX level Token buyer (again?)
Volunteer Gift?

Even though I am only missing Ro7P2 I am very much against a reprint of the Rod Pieces. I am also against an alternate way to make the final Rod. I would rather see something like a Lesser Rod than a reprint or alternate recipe.

As for people that have supported TD through years 4-7 (for example) of a cycle, they could have picked up the older cycle pieces earlier in their career, but chose not to, for whatever reason. Most of us understand how a collectable game system works. . .

On a different note, was it 2009 that Jeff randomly inserted the HoPs in packs? Weren't there 20 distributed that way?

I know where there are at least 4 more Special ? that are not on EN's list too.

Yeah, I think the HOP was 2009. I got my 2nd that way.

Wizards of the Coast did a similar campaign/gimmick with older cards. In the first printing of Zendikar they randomly inserted old original cards (I don't know whether they had them or bought them but they were not reprinted)into some packs. These packs were considered to contain "treasure". The cards couldn't be used in a limited format, but it was a way for a very fortunate few to open a pack and get a mox or dual land or some other old expensive card that was on the "don not reprint" list.

This could be a very good opportunity for certain tokens to get recycled back into the game (saviour stones, gems of healing, etc) while not costing Jeff and company any extra money. This should also be reserved for a first printing as it will help token sales and get Jeff the money he needs to run the event sooner. I'm not sure how it costs to get everything up and running but I'm sure it is a lot and that's what the token sales help with.

This can also be used to get sought after rares/uncommons in the mix. The quantity could be as rare as an untra rare (1 in every 100 packs) or more or less. What do you all think?

I have 4 UR Specials ? . I believe Raven told me she has a couple, I know Paul DK has at least one. Anyone else want to cop to owning a few?

So, I know of around 10 out there.

I've got 2 at the moment. GamingETC has a floating stock of 2, so they probably have somewhere between 5-15 off-shelf.

I posted a Relic (+3 Mithral Bracers) for trade. I was hoping to get Mithral gauntlets but that did not pan out so I opened up the trading to any offer.

Not a single hit at all. Now I know that the bracers are not the best of the Relics but it surprised me a bit to see no activity at all. This tells me a few things. It says that relic is not in high demand but it also says that we have reached saturation of Ultra Rare tokens. That is with the exception of a very few tokens that are still wanted.

I expect to see the price of URs plummet unless they are very specific ones. It already is happening to some extent. Prices are coming down drastically on some URs while those that have not been reduced sit on ebay forever.

I would guess that it is mainly that many players simply don't have much in the way of spare UR's to trade in the first place.

I normally only have a couple of spare UR's available to trade. After recent trades, I have none (unless someone really wants an Onyx Rod of Disjunction).

I know one really big token buyer who you would think should have lots of spare UR's due to the volume of tokens he buys. But given that he outfits a full party of 10 and has a collection (gold/onyx of each token including UR), he actually doesn't tend to have many spare UR's either.

You look at George who has recently been trading away a lot of his spare UR's, but most of them aren't top items like Mithral Gauntlets, etc.

So I would guess it's somewhere between a saturation point and people simply not having UR's to trade (which could be based on the timing of your request).
