Ring of Focus
+2 to healing & damage spells

(upgrade the old one)

Ring of Channeling
Transmute: Ring of Focus (either one)
+3 to healing & damage spells and scrolls

Hermes's Ring
Transmute: Ring of Channeling
+3 to healing & damage spells, and removes cast as scroll restriction

I could see +2 / +3 / +4 as a good progression. The Scrolls portion of it seems pretty broken though, way too powerful.

How so? Would the extra +3 from skill checks really be that unbalancing?

Removing "Cast as Scroll Restriction" would let a bunch of tokens interact with Scrolls that couldn't before, like Bracelets of the Zephyr and +2 Staff of Power, and other items that make skill checks easier or add damage/healing.

Can we get some pants? It has been chilly running around the dungeons without any. Slacks of Alacrity, Trousers of Holding (cargo pants?), Tights of Flight?

Oh and not usable by druids.
Just kidding, Mike.

All true. But I have a not even fully optimized fighter build that has +15/+17. Which means I can do more damage than a second level spell with every slide. And I don't have a limit. And my HP and AC are much better than the wizard.

Regular scrolls still are consumable, and arguably, since they don't mention a skill check in the first place, you wouldn't get one. The Staff of Power and Earcuff are still limited to first level spells, and both of those plus B of Zephyr are still once per room. Best case scenario, you use all three at once for Magic Missiles, and do 16, 19, or 22 damage. Which is still in the same range to my one slide (except not needing to slide). Or, you burn two rare scrolls with BoZeph, which is still once per room, and costs you two rares. Ring of Wizardry for scrolls would be nice, but really isn't anything more than a normal attack slide gets, and most Rare scrolls are still in the 12-15 point range.

Healing is another matter, I guess. But I still don't see it as terribly game breaking.

Pants does seem like an obvious slot to do next, doesn't it? Maybe socks too

Maybe, but I really, really *need* a reason to ever cast a non-healing scroll. I can easily build a wizard with a melee attack that rivals his standard spells, so using a scroll instead just isn't worth it in the slightest.
Blimey!

I'd think scrolls would definitely be preferable to a Sling for ranged combat for a Wizard (a certain flying dracolich comes to mind). Some scrolls are pretty awesome in any case, such as Chain Lightning, and it would be pretty powerful to be able to cast two Chain Lightnings in a turn with Bracelets of the Zephyr. It will be even more powerful in a couple of years, when Wizards can have two Eldritch Items and be able to bypass all spell resistance.

Sling might actually be better- unless you can reduce that huge Magic Resistance

Would a Wizard ever hit a Dracolich with a Sling without sliding a "20"?

Not sure what Smoak's AC is, but a +10 to hit isn't that bad.

You have a Wizard with +10 to hit with a sling?
