This makes me sad 13 years 2 weeks ago #1

The person states that they buy unclaimed postal packages in the ebay ad. This makes me sad because someone was sending off a lot of tokens that never made it to their destination.

His price is way too high but he'll probably get a clue when nobody bid on it.

The tokens are in Georgia. Who comes from Georgia to play TD?

Come to think of it, this set contains tokens from different years. It's not just a single unclaimed shipment.

It could easily be an unclaimed shipment. From the looks of it it seems to be a box of tokens that was being sent in for exchange.

Then again it could be a shipment from friend to friend.

Yeah i saw that too...it made me sad to think of someone losing all those tokens. Like you said the price is way too high. Hopefully the shipper had them insured. Will be interested to see if the seller relists at a lower price.

Georgia might be a hub, I haven't checked. I need to find out where they sell these blind lots at and join in!

I have one box of tokens that were shipped to me (insured over $200). I received the slip to pick them up (yes mail is delived to me - I don't lvie in a city). Within a couple of hours we were up at the post office to pick them up. They grabbed the box and saw that now the box had been opened and the tokens were no longer there. So in that small window they had been stolen.

The postal service can either be great and quick or a quagmire from which you can never escape. I had a parcel of TD tokens worth over 1300 disappear for nearly 6 months only to thankfully show up again in the us at the senders house.

Always get tracking and insurance.

It made me especially sad, because I lost a package of 1000 tokens in shipment last year. It was sent Priority Mail with tracking, but since it didn't have insurance (last time I do that on a package that size) I went ahead and ate the loss and sent him a replacement package of tokens out of my collection. So when I saw that ad, I actually wondered how many of those tokens might have been mine...

Atlanta Georgia is the Eastern US hub for "dead" parcels and letters. There is a "Mail recovery Form" which gets sent to the Mail recovery Center and attempts to locate lost items for the rightful owner. As a Postmaster, I have had a few success's locating missing items over my Postal career.

This guys price is WAY out of line and I was surprised to see his flat rate shipping of $8.75. That's not even the cost of a medimum flat rate box.

If he paid for it by the pound he might just take a loss on this one.

Probably should have stayed out of it, but I sent him a message suggesting he delete a 7.

I suppose without seeing them they could be mistaken for coins and then greed just takes over.

How does someone other than the sender and proper recipient obtain ownership of a "lost" package?
